Replacing former digital executive director.

Service NSW is hiring a chief digital officer (CDO), following the departure of Katherine McDermott at the end of last year.

Service NSW looks for new CDO

The state’s lead digital agency, Department of Customer Service, now supports more than 1200 NSW government services across 50 agencies, with a 2023-2024 budgeted spend of more than $840 million.

About 80 percent of Service NSW’s demand is digital, according to a recruitment advertisement, with the agency also having to support a seven-day phone service and expanding network of service centres.

The CDO is expected to drive “continuous development and improvement to enhance key operational functions of digital delivery,” the advertisement states.

It added that the CDO will have the chance to “engage with every corner of the NSW community", supporting the development of "innovative solutions that ensure the NSW government is seen as a trusted entity that delivers innovative, customer focused and intuitive solutions to everyday needs.”

A Service NSW spokesperson told iTnews McDermott, whose position the CDO is replacing, last held the title of executive director, digital services.

As McDermott posted on LinkedIn, she has joined a startup called See Me Please, which provides accessibility user insights.
