Both Walduck and Biber made separate announcements on LinkedIn over the past week, which iTnews has now confirmed.

Walduck - who is perhaps best known as a former CIO and chief digital officer of Australia Post - wrote in a brief LinkedIn post that he was “very excited to join this terrific team and organisation” and that he was “looking forward to helping with the work we have ahead”.

Meanwhile Biber - whom iTnews reported had been tapped as acting CISO back in January - has now been appointed as the airline’s permanent CISO.

“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as group CISO at Qantas,” he wrote briefly.

Technology leadership renewal has been underway since mid-last year when an executive reshuffle brought technology operations responsibility under Catriona Larritt, the airline’s chief customer and digital officer.

Qantas’ former group CIO Sam Charmand left the airline in September last year and has since been appointed global chief digital and information officer at BlueScope.

Former group CISO Jeffrey Choi left in January this year and now manages cyber security and identity at Coles Group.

A Qantas spokesperson was unable to provide comment on the leadership changes.
